"...I’m getting stronger, my faith is rising, and I would run oh while I’m waiting, I’m lifting up on wings as eagles I believe, and I would trust in you”- While I'm waiting by Travis Greene feat. Chandler Moore

A message from our convener
It has been more than a year since the last blog post, and it wasn't for lack of words but because there had to be a certain level of spiritual growth and understanding I had to get to. Having said that, blog posts would become bi-weekly because there is so much to share, encouraging us to be even more consistent regardless of anything.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in the past year has been what to do in the season of waiting.
Psalm 27:14 (TPT)
Wait for and confidently expect the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord.
At the start of the year, the Holy Spirit showed me that I was not putting all my eggs in that figurative basket, meaning I didn’t put EVERYTHING in God's hands. I trusted God with most of my heart, not all of it. I was leaving myself opportunities to “help” God and figure things out in case He didn’t show up “on time.”
So, my new year's resolution was that I would be more intentional with committing every single aspect of my life, including what I decided to wear in the morning, to God's hands.
I’m going to share a testimony of God’s faithfulness as a result of that obedience, but first, I want to show you the three things God is doing in your season of waiting for and on Him. I learned this from Apostle Joshua Selman's message below:
Why is God silent?
1. "He is working on you to become capable enough to achieve his will."
Waiting seasons can be challenging, especially when everything contradicts God's promises. Joseph had dreams of being great, but we see all he went through on his way to becoming Egypt's Prime Minister.
Rather than lamenting in impatience, focus on letting God build you into someone capable of handling the promises He made to you. You do not want to end up mis-using the blessings when they come. For example, if you give a 3-year-old $1,000, you would be puzzled at their priorities and what they want to spend that money on. But because you're older and have more experience and a better understanding of money, you could spend that same amount more wisely. In the same way, God allows us to go through different situations so that they can mature us into the person grown enough to handle what He wants to bless us with.
Luke 2:52 (AMP)
And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and men.
2. "God is working on other factors to help you do his will."
The timing of Elizabeth's conception of John the Baptist had to have been at that exact period so that John the Baptist would be the one to baptize Jesus and also so Elizabeth could be the one to encourage Mary. "Imagine Elizabeth had John earlier... John would have roamed about the wilderness for decades waiting for Jesus." - Apostle Selman.
In waiting times, God is working things behind the scenes for you.
Luke 1:80 (AMP)
The child continued to grow and to become strong in spirit, and he lived in the deserts until the day of his public appearance to Israel [as John the Baptist, the forerunner of the Messiah].
3. "God is fighting unseen battles on your behalf."
In Matthew 2, verses 13-23, Matthew narrates the ordeals of the angel warning Joseph and Mary to flee with baby Jesus just in time before Herod ordered the massacre of the male children in Bethlehem. From that warning till Herod's death, no word from an angel to Joseph or Mary was written.
In times of waiting on God to fulfill His promises, spend time to thank Him for His grace and mercy over your life that shields you from the evil you can't see that the devil lays in your path every day.
Matthew 2:20 (AMP)
Get up! Take the Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel; for those who sought the Child's life are dead.
My Testimony
I do school in the US, but I’m from Nigeria, and my parents are there too. Paying my school fees has been quite the experience every semester because it’s one new bank situation after another. However, Spring 2022 (January to May) was the hardest yet.
For more than 10 months— some more consistent than others— I waited on God to help with the funds and get the bank to wire the money on time. It was one email after another from the Bursar's office... it was the most challenging time in my life to date.
Remember earlier I mentioned I decided to put myself in situations where I could only trust God? Well, this was it. I had opportunities to work for good money under the table and justify it to myself (as it is illegal to do but not necessarily wrong since it would be for a legitimate reason). Instead, I decided to see how God wanted to play this out, and boy did he marvel me.
Like it is in school, every class is a prerequisite for the next one... you learn the multiplication table in elementary school to do calculus in high school. Similarly, the lessons that God teaches us in a particular season are to prepare us to be better equipped to handle ourselves in the coming season or even the ones down the line.
Fast forward to September, and I realized why God was particular about my relationships with people. Wednesday, September 6th, I got a letter from my school asking me to leave campus and a notice from the international center that I would have my VISA revoked that weekend as I would no longer be a student of the University. Amidst all this, I had grown to a place where I was so confident in the Lord that I was willing to see whatever outcome, trusting He was in control. There was no fear, worry, or doubt that God would see me through. I was amazed at myself as I shared it all with my close friend. On the verge of losing everything, with the help of the spirit, my resolve was absolute. I had grown so much. I watched the connections I had on campus with Professors, friends, and staff advocating on my behalf, and the school and international center extended their deadlines. Most importantly, God showed up! I can never forget the call. My dad told me, "The bank has wired the money! God gave us favor with the bank manager, and she skipped a queue of more than 1000 names to put yours on top." HA! What God cannot do does not exist!
Learning to trust God is a lifelong journey and a daily one too. Each day presents a new challenge, but I see it as a new opportunity to allow God to reveal Himself to me in a new light. It is so transformative because your entire dependence is on Him. And what better person than the ONE with the whole universe in His hands?
